French Ace Pierre Dufaur de Gavardie claimed a total of six victories four aircraft and two observation balloons between March and November 1916. He was badly wounded in early 1917 and despite recovering, would not fly in the war again. Pictured here in his Nieuport 11, he flew with Escadrille 12 and was awarded the Croix de Guerre, Legion d'honneur and Medal Militaire. He died aged 76
